About Us
Starting a candle company in the midst of a pandemic and a global recession may not be item #1 on the to-do list, but during quarantine, making candles became my happy place.
I love candles but most commercial candles give me a headache. So I set out to make a candle that smells good but doesn't dominate the house, a candle wax without petroleum products (paraffin) and ingredients that I chose (no phthalates). The picture on the front page is of the ingredients.
I am also not interested in creating another stream of waste and have engineered the prices, products, and packaging with this intent in mind. Packaging is either recyclable, reused, or reusable. Shipping is unavoidable in these times and is our way of receiving goods into our houses, but the goal is to be efficient with the weight and content.
Luxury can come in many packages, and a handmade vessel or a print of an oil painting is to my mind the height of luxury. You are paying for the art of an individual, not fancy packaging or a shiny candle vessel.
Speaking of, our family is a creative bunch, so a natural choice was collaborating with them on vessels and artwork. My mother Rose Brenner is an oil painter, and her paintings each contain a piece of the joy in her heart. Each print was matched with a scent to showcase the painting.
My sister Suzi Brenner is a ceramicist, crafting vessels in her home studio, each a unique piece of art. She enjoys exploring both the design and function aspects of candle vessels, but also the freedom to create a lovely piece that can be cherished for many years to come. In term of aesthetics, she's got your back. In a world of manufactured tchotchkes, her vessels are an oasis of unique art pieces.
We hope you enjoy the candles, let us know what you think!
